KATHMANDU: The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has pledged assistance of 39,000 Euros to support communities affected by the devastating floods in Ilam, Nepal, in October 2025.

The grant agreement for the Emergency Relief Support Project was signed by German Ambassador Udo Volz on behalf of his government and by Shakeb Nabi, Country Director of Deutsche Welthungerhilfe.

The project aims to provide lifesaving assistance and strengthen the resilience of disaster-affected communities in Ilam District.

It will prioritize support for marginalized groups, women, and children, offering essential items such as food, mattresses, tarpaulins, warm clothing, dignity kits, and blankets.

The initiative will be locally implemented by Rural Reconstruction Nepal in close coordination with local authorities and community groups.

The project is scheduled for completion by December 2025.

Germany has a history of supporting Nepal during natural disasters.

In September 2024, it contributed 100,000 Euros for flood relief in Sarlahi and Rautahat Districts, executed through One Heart World Wide.

Ambassador Volz emphasized Germany’s continued commitment to stand by the people of Nepal during difficult times.
