KATHMANDU: The government has decided not to immediately appoint ambassadors to countries where the posts are currently vacant.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday to announce the Cabinet’s decisions, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel, who is also the government spokesperson, said the interim government will not make ambassadorial appointments for now.

“There will be no immediate appointment of ambassadors to vacant posts. The embassies can be run by second-tier staff. The government will operate in a financially prudent manner,” Minister Kharel said.
