International community condemns deadly crackdown on Gen Z protests

KATHMANDU: The embassies of Australia, Finland, France, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States have jointly expressed deep concern over the violent incidents that occurred today in Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal.

In a statement released today, the embassies condemned the loss of life and injuries resulting from the unrest, extending heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a swift recovery to those injured.

“Our governments reaffirm their strong support for the universal rights of peaceful assembly and freedom of expression,” the statement said. “We urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint, avoid further escalation, and ensure that these fundamental rights are fully protected.”

The statement was endorsed by all seven embassies, including the Embassy of Australia, Embassy of Finland, Embassy of France, Embassy of Japan, Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Embassy of the United Kingdom, and the Embassy of the United States of America in Nepal.
