Korean Ambassador discusses bilateral cooperation with Communication Minister Kharel

KATHMANDU: South Korean Ambassador to Nepal, Park Tae-Young, held a courtesy meeting with Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel.

The meeting, held at the Ministry in Singha Durbar, focused on the historic bilateral relationship between Nepal and South Korea, ongoing cooperation, current developments, and the Nepali government’s priorities.

During the discussion, Minister Kharel highlighted the relationship between the two countries, the development projects in Nepal supported by South Korea, and the assistance received from the South Korean government for the growth of Nepal’s information technology sector.

He expressed gratitude for South Korea’s support in establishing a data center in Nepal.

Minister Kharel also outlined the government’s key priorities, including conducting free and fair elections, controlling corruption, and promoting good governance.

He appreciated South Korea for providing long-term employment opportunities to Nepali youths through the Employment Permit System (EPS).

On the occasion, Ambassador Park Tae-Young congratulated Minister Kharel and extended best wishes for a successful tenure.

Ambassador Park also provided updates on South Korea-assisted projects in Nepal and explained the Korean government’s priorities for supporting Nepal.

He noted that South Korea is ready to assist Nepal in achieving economic transformation and prosperity through sectors such as education, agriculture, and information technology.

The ambassador emphasized that the South Korean government is always eager and committed to increasing assistance in Nepal’s development, aligned with the priorities set by the Nepali government.

He also mentioned that Nepali youth are hardworking and honest, and that South Korea remains one of the best destinations for foreign employment.

Officials from the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated in the meeting.
