KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources, Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Kulman Ghising, held talks with India’s Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affair, Manohar Lal Khattar, on Wednesday in New Delhi.
The meeting took place while Minister Ghising was attending the 8th General Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
The discussions focused on bilateral energy cooperation, electricity trade, expansion of transmission lines, progress of hydropower projects under Indian investment, and long-term partnership in the energy sector between the two countries.
Officials present included Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma, India’s Energy Secretary Pankaj Agarwal, additional secretaries from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, and Joint Secretary Sagar Raj Gautam from Nepal’s Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, according to the minister’s office.
Following the meeting, Indian Minister Khattar wrote on X: “Productive discussions with Nepal’s Minister Kulman Ghising on electricity trade, transmission, and joint energy projects. Looking forward to strengthening our partnership in the energy sector.”
Khattar commended his Nepali counterpart Ghising for the initiative and reaffirmed the deep-rooted friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
He underscored that partnership in areas such as hydropower development, urban infrastructure, and technical exchange holds immense potential for mutual growth and regional progress.
