KATHMANDU: Nepal and Germany on Tuesday (June 16) began a two-day round of bilateral government-to-government (G2G) development cooperation negotiations in Kathmandu to determine future development priorities and financial assistance aligned with Nepal’s national development goals.

The negotiations, which run from June 16 to June 17, bring together officials from the Government of Nepal and the Government of Germany. Held every two years, the talks serve as the formal mechanism through which the two countries review cooperation programs and agree on future funding commitments.

According to the Embassy of Germany in Kathmandu, discussions are focused on cooperation in health, energy, and economic development. Priority areas include safer hospitals, maternal and child healthcare services, health insurance systems, clean cooking technologies, solar irrigation for farmers, municipal energy planning, improved access to finance, expanded market opportunities, and stronger public service systems.

The German Embassy said the long-standing Nepal-Germany partnership continues to support sustainable development through targeted investments in sectors directly affecting the lives of Nepali citizens.
