KATHMANDU: The seventh meeting of the Nepal–India Boundary Working Group was held today in New Delhi.

The Nepali delegation was led by Prakash Joshi, Director General of Nepal’s Department of Survey, while the Indian delegation was headed by Hitesh Kumar S. Makwana, Director General of India’s Survey Department.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, the meeting reviewed the implementation of decisions made during the sixth meeting held in Dehradun in August 2019.

It also assessed the progress of the 11th meeting of the Committee of Survey Officials, held in the same location in September 2019.

Both sides agreed to adopt new technologies for survey and mapping to make the inspection and maintenance of border pillars more effective.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a joint agreement.

The two countries agreed to hold the next meeting of the Committee of Survey Officials in Nepal next month, and to schedule the next session of the Boundary Working Group in Nepal at a mutually convenient date.

The Nepal–India Boundary Working Group was established in 2014 as a joint mechanism between the two governments.

Its mandate includes construction, restoration, and maintenance of border pillars and other technical tasks.
