Nepal-India joint patrol repairs border pillars in Taplejung-Sikkim region

TAPLEJUNG: A joint border patrol, monitoring, and maintenance operation was carried out along the Nepal–India border in Taplejung and Sikkim.

Nepali team led by Chief District Officer Shiva Raj Sedhain, a team of Nepali and Indian security personnel conducted an on-site inspection of the Timbungpokhari area in Sidingwa-1 and Sirijangha-8 and the Lampokhari border area in Sikkim’s Gyalshing district.

During the Saturday operation, the Armed Police Force (APF) of Nepal and India’s Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) conducted joint patrolling and repaired damaged boundary pillars.

The APF Unit 1, Gulm, led by Gulmpati and Deputy Superintendent Pramod Prakash Pathak, also carried out a cleanliness drive in the Dasgaja area.

The joint activity, coordinated by APF Unit 1, Gulm HQ, Taplejung, included district security committee officials, local administration, and security heads. CDO Sedhain said such collaborative efforts will continue to strengthen border security, maintain transparency, and reinforce mutual trust between Nepal and India.

Local authorities and security agencies hailed the operation as a key step toward sustainable border management.
