KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have brought back 10 individuals who fled abroad after committing crimes in Nepal, in coordination with the International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol.

According to Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Abhi Narayan Kafle, red notices were issued against 11 individuals and diffusion notices against three during the current fiscal year. Of them, eight facing red notices and two under diffusion alerts were arrested in different countries and returned to Nepal.

In the previous fiscal year, 34 red notices and two diffusion notices were issued, leading to the arrest and repatriation of 17 red notice subjects and three under diffusion alerts.

Kafle said Nepal Police remain consistently engaged in tracking down fugitives internationally and are committed to bringing offenders to justice regardless of where they hide. He added that the force has intensified security strategies to maintain law and order, ensure smooth conduct of the upcoming elections, and strengthen crime investigation and control.

Interpol notices are issued by the Interpol General Secretariat at the request of the National Central Bureau of Nepal Police to facilitate the global search and arrest of absconding suspects.
