KATHMANDU: The Nepali Embassy in India has stated that no Nepali citizens have been confirmed dead so far in the recent landslides and floods in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.
In a press release, the Nepali Embassy stated that, according to information from Uttarakhand Police, 372 individuals have been safely rescued since the landslide on August 5.
Two bodies have been recovered from the site, but none of the rescued or deceased are Nepali nationals.
The Embassy also reported that in a separate incident in Bagode, Pauri Garhwal district on August 6, five Nepali citizens remain missing.
Among the four injured Nepalis, three have returned home, while one is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
The Nepali Embassy stated that it is in continuous coordination with the relevant agencies of the Uttarakhand government and the Ministry of External Affairs of India to monitor the situation of Nepalis in the affected areas, search for the missing, ensure medical care for the injured, and provide necessary assistance.
