KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Prime Minister of Nepal, Sushila Karki, held a phone conversation today with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the discussion, Prime Minister Karki extended her best wishes to PM Modi on his 75th birthday and highlighted the centuries-old friendly relations between Nepal and India.
She also briefed him on recent political developments in Nepal.
In response, Prime Minister Modi congratulated Karki on her appointment and assured that India would continue to support Nepal as a good neighbor in the days ahead.
The two leaders also discussed bilateral relations, shared interests, and mutual concerns.
Meanwhile, in posts on Facebook and X, Prime Minister Modi described the conversation as “warm” and conveyed India’s heartfelt condolences over the recent tragic loss of lives in Nepal.
He reaffirmed India’s steadfast support for PM Karki’s efforts to restore peace and stability, and extended warm greetings to her and the people of Nepal on the occasion of their National Day tomorrow.
