AWAZA: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli participated in the inaugural session of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), representing Nepal at the global forum.

The high-level event, which brings together leaders and representatives from 32 landlocked developing nations, aims to address critical challenges related to connectivity, trade, and sustainable development for countries lacking direct access to the sea.

During the opening ceremony, global leaders emphasized the need for enhanced international cooperation to tackle structural barriers faced by LLDCs, particularly in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Discussions focused on promoting inclusive economic growth, reducing transport costs, and improving regional integration.

Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to deliver Nepal’s national statement at a plenary session, highlighting Nepal’s priorities on trade facilitation, infrastructure development, and the necessity of special support measures for LLDCs.

The conference serves as a platform to review progress made under the Vienna Program of Action and to adopt a new action plan for the coming decade.
