KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to visit India on September 16 for a brief two-day official trip at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Oli will travel to New Delhi on September 16 and return to Kathmandu the following day, September 17.
This is expected to be Oli’s shortest visit to India to date.
The visit will mainly focus on strengthening bilateral relations, continuing previous agreements, and advancing select new projects.
Ahead of Oli’s arrival, a Home Secretary-level meeting of the ‘Nepal-India Boundary Working Group’ will take place in Delhi, with Nepal already preparing for it.
A key issue likely to dominate discussions is the ongoing border dispute, especially regarding Nepal’s updated map that includes Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh—territories contested by India.
This matter previously strained relations during a meeting between Oli and Modi at the BIMSTEC summit earlier this year and is expected to be a priority at the start of this visit.
