President Paudel reaches Doha to participate in World Development Summit

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel, accompanied by First Lady Sabita Paudel, has arrived in Doha, Qatar to participate in the Second World Summit on Social Development, scheduled from November 4-6.

He leads the Nepali delegation at the invitation of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

At Hamad International Airport, President Paudel was welcomed by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal’s Ambassador to Qatar Ramesh Chandra Paudel, senior embassy officials, and Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Lok Bahadur Thapa.

The President is scheduled to address the main session of the summit on November 4 and hold bilateral meetings with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

The summit, first held in 1995 in Copenhagen, Denmark, will focus on global challenges such as development inequalities, demographic imbalances, and social impacts of technology.

Since joining the UN in 1955, Nepal has remained an active member committed to peace and stability.

President Paudel will return to Nepal on November 6 after completing the official visit.
