According to Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, President Paudel will lead a 12-member Nepali delegation to the summit at the invitation of Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Paudel will leave for Doha on November 3 on an official visit and is scheduled to address the main session of the summit on November 4.
Speaking at a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, Secretary Rai said that this is the second such global summit being held after 30 years—the first one having taken place in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1995.
He highlighted that Nepal’s participation at the presidential level reflects the importance and dignity of the event.
During the summit, President Paudel is expected to meet with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, and several other distinguished figures.
The summit, organized under a UN General Assembly resolution, is regarded as an important global platform for member states.
Discussions will focus on issues such as inequality in development, demographic imbalances, and the impact of technology on society.
Secretary Rai noted that the summit aims to foster shared commitments for cooperation and collaboration in advancing social development.
Nepal, a member of the United Nations since 1955, has remained an active and dedicated advocate of peace and stability.
As Nepal currently chairs the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), its participation in the summit holds added significance.
Following the completion of his official visit, President Paudel is scheduled to return to Nepal on November 6, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
