South Korean Ambassador pays courtesy call on Finance Minister Khanal

KATHMANDU: Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, Park Tae-Young, paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal.

During the meeting held today at the Ministry of Finance, Finance Minister Khanal discussed the bilateral diplomatic relations between Korea and Nepal and expressed gratitude for the continuous cooperation provided by the Korean government.

Furthermore, stating that the status of projects and programs operating with Korean assistance is satisfactory, Finance Minister Khanal said that economic partnership with Korea would be continued.

On the occasion, Ambassador Park recalled the completion of 30 years since the establishment of bilateral relations between the Korean government agency KOICA and the Government of Nepal and expressed hope for further coordination and cooperation in the future.

He also stated that efforts would be made to encourage Korean investors to invest in Nepal and to provide necessary facilitation for the promotion of Nepali products.

Additionally, he informed that the Korean government is planning to establish a separate visa center to ease the process of taking Nepali workers for employment in Korea.

Similarly, the Finance Minister’s Secretariat stated that the Ambassador informed that the process has been forwarded to provide subsidized loans through the Agricultural Development Bank, with the cooperation of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), to promote the entrepreneurship of Nepali citizens who have returned after working in Korea under the EPS system and to help them start new businesses.

He also requested necessary facilitation for this process.
