KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel held a meeting on Thursday afternoon with U.S. Ambassador to Nepal Dean R. Thompson at the ministry office.
During the courtesy call, the two discussed matters of mutual interest between Nepal and the United States.
Minister Kharel highlighted that, in line with the mandate of the Gen Z Movement, the government’s key priorities include the upcoming national elections on March 5, 2026, as well as corruption control and good governance.
Ambassador Thompson extended congratulations and best wishes to the newly appointed minister.
He also reiterated that the United States has always stood in support of Nepal’s peace and progress, according to the Ministry of Communications.
Diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United States were established in 1948, now marking their 77th year.
Minister Kharel assumed charge of the ministry on September 22.
