KATHMANDU: Having transitioned from a digital influencer to acting, Akriti Rajbhandari is active on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. She has more than 200,000 followers on TikTok and over 30,000 subscribers on YouTube.

Rajbhandari is also actively involved in promoting beauty products and beauty campaigns for various brands and works as a makeup artist as well. She also featured in Sushant KC’s popular song Bardali, and her first film, Kumari, is set to be released on February 6.

Nepal News features a seven-question conversation with actress Rajbhandari, exploring beauty and social media:

As a child, you used to play with your mother’s makeup a lot, right? Did you also get scolded for that?

Growing up, my mother owned a cosmetic shop, and her lipsticks were my favorite toys. I would often sneak makeup items from the shop to try them on myself and occasionally got scolded for damaging the products.

Do you prefer Akriti with makeup or without makeup?

I prefer very simple makeup. I feel beautiful both with and without makeup.

For you, what kind of makeup is suitable during winter?

Winter cosmetic choices depend largely on skin type, and because my skin is dry, I stick to simple, hydrating makeup products.

How reliable do you think beauty tips found on social media are?

Not all beauty tips shared on social media are correct. One should properly cross-check the tips before following them.

You are also active as a content creator on social media. How can the younger generation benefit more from digital platforms?

Right now is a time when digital platforms are extremely popular and accessible to almost everyone. Creating professional content based on one’s interests and promoting it through social media can greatly benefit anyone’s career.

Have you ever done makeup for any celebrities?

I have had the opportunity to do makeup for some celebrities. Recently, I’ve often done makeup for my Kumari co-actor Abhishek Khadka.

Did you do your own makeup while shooting for ‘Kumari’?

Our makeup artist Samara Joshi did all the makeup for Kumari. However, for some film-related events, I did my own makeup. While doing makeup, Samara, who is like an elder sister to me, also took my suggestions, which was wonderful.

In your opinion, which Nepali actresses have good makeup and fashion sense?

I like the fashion and makeup sense of many Nepali actresses. I especially like the fashion and makeup of Niti Shah and Swastima Khadka.
