‘Anjila’ nears 100 days, QFX Cinemas to show it at a discount

KATHMANDU: The Nepali film ‘Anjila’, which was released on Falgun 29 last year, has reached the 100th day of continuous screening.

On Wednesday, the film is continuously showing at the QFX Cinema Chain’s City Square Mall in Samakhusi, Kathmandu. For Thursday, 3 shows have been provided in the hall.

As the film approaches its 100th day, producer Prem Kumar Shrestha said that QFX Cinemas is preparing to show the film at Rs. 100 in the theaters where it is continuously showing, as well as in some other theaters across the country. He said, “The audience has been coming spontaneously. However, as the 100th day approaches, QFX has said that it will show the film at a discount. We have also supported this.

Since it is a happy thing for Nepali cinema to continue its historic release for 100 days, we have aimed to ensure that all the viewers who want to watch this film can watch it.”

Directed by Milan Chams, ‘Anjila’ has been ranked among the top five in the business figures of the year 2081. The producer has said that the film has so far grossed over Rs 120 million. The film is based on the life of national women’s football team captain Anjila Tumbapo Subba.

In it, Anjila herself plays the lead role, while Dayahang Rai, Sirjana Subba, Vijay Baral, Maotse Gurung, Prem Kumar Shrestha and others are also in the cast.

Meanwhile, on the 90th day of the protest, former minister Sudan Kiranti has reacted after watching ‘Anjila’. Kiranti said that the film is an inspiring story of a tragic incident, saying, “While watching this story of the Kiranti society of the eastern hill region, I kept looking at myself, seeing myself again and again without seeing it. I kept closing my eyes, but tears kept flowing.”

The film’s director, Milan Chams, is currently in the UK. He has been to various cities there to screen ‘Anjila’.
