KATHMANDU: Durgesh Thapa and Sisan Baniya’s newly released song ‘Jane Bhae Jam Maya’ has set a new record on YouTube, becoming the most-viewed Nepali song within 24 hours of release.

The song, which was released on Wednesday evening, began trending on YouTube just a few hours after going live. The song had drawn attention even before its release due to the collaboration between Thapa, Sisan Baniya, and viral internet personality ‘Guras Nani’.

Within just 20 hours of its release, the song shot to No. 1 on YouTube’s trending chart in the music category.

In the Nepali context, the viewership ‘Jane Bhae Jam Maya’ received in such a short time is extraordinary. Previously, the record for most views within 24 hours was held by ‘Aaina Aama Yo Teejma’, sung by Bishnu Majhi, which had received just over 1.5 million views in that timeframe.

That means Durgesh’s ‘Jane Bhae Jam Maya’ has now become the most-viewed Nepali song in the shortest time after release. The song’s lyrics and music were composed by Durgesh himself, and the vocals feature Durgesh, Sisan Baniya, and Alhaji Gero.
