KATHMANDU: Singer Durgesh Thapa, who rose to fame with his song ‘Dushman Hereko Herai’, which was viewed 100 million times on YouTube in less than six months, has set a record on YouTube with his new song ‘Jaane Bhaye Jam Maya’. The song has become the most viewed Nepali song on YouTube within 24 hours of its release.

The song, which was released on Wednesday evening, has been viewed more than 3 million times as of Friday afternoon. The song, which features the vocals of singers Thapa and Sisan Baniya, is currently at the top of YouTube’s ‘trending’ list. The music video of the song features singers Thapa, Baniya, Gurans Nani and Pemba Lama.

Last December, singer Thapa’s song ‘Dushman Hereko Herai’ has been viewed more than 107.3 million times on YouTube. When the song’s ‘views’ crossed 100 million in the first week of Asad, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli congratulated singer and creator Thapa on social media Facebook.

Singer Thapa said that he was emotional and happy with the success of the song, which has already reached the top spot on YouTube trending and has also entered the global trending. “This honor given by the divine audience/source is not just the number of views, it is the moment when a dream comes true,” he said.

Singer Thapa says that his musical journey has taken a new turn after the success of the song. Stating that the credit for the popularity and success of his latest song ‘Jaane Bhaye Jam Maya’ goes to the audience/listeners, he mentioned that he will continue such creative activities in the coming days.

Singer Thapa, who has been creating successful songs one after another, has recently been in increasing demand at music programs and festivals in the country and abroad. ‘The success of the song “Dushman Heraiko Hera” has given me an additional boost, I feel like I have gained new energy from it,’ he said. ‘Although there are demands for programs in some places, I am not able to give time due to my busy schedule. I am currently recording new songs.’

According to him, along with fairs and festivals in the country and abroad, he is also earning money from YouTube. The number of subscribers on the ‘Durgesh Thapa’ YouTube channel has reached more than one million. Along with Thapa, singer Anand Karki, singer Samiksha Adhikari and Alina Chauhan have their voices in ‘Dushman Hereko Herai’. Thapa has composed the song with his own words and music. He has also composed the music for the song.

The music video of the song features him along with artists Priyanka Karki, Kabita Nepali, Pema Lama, and others. Thapa, who has sung in hundreds of songs and acted in music videos, is famous for his songs like ‘Hami Pani Nachnu Pra Beech Beech Ma’. He has also given voice and music to movie songs recently.
