KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal will officially honor the team behind the Nepali film ‘Elephants in the Fog’ following its historic win at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film secured the prestigious Jury Prize in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ category, which serves as the festival’s primary sidebar competition.

Asim Shah, Political Advisor to the Prime Minister, confirmed that the Ministry of Information and Communications alongside the Film Development Board will host the ceremony.

The government has hailed the achievement as a monumental milestone, marking the first time a Nepali film has won an award at the world-renowned festival.

In a statement, Shah remarked, “This is not just a moment of winning an award. It is a moment where the respect, struggle, and potential of the Nepali film industry have gained global recognition. The Ministry of Information and Communications and the Film Development Board will honor this team, which is returning home after raising the profile of Nepali cinema on the international stage.”
