Director Deepak Rauniyar has said that the Indian market is a big market for Nepali films. He says that India can be a big market for Nepali cinema as the language, religion and culture are similar. Director Rauniyar said that he has appointed Bollywood director and actor Anurag Kashyap as the executive producer of the film ‘Rajaganj’ to ‘explore’ Nepali films in the Indian market. “India is a big market for Nepali films because it connects us in terms of language, religion, and culture,” he said while talking to reporters in Kathmandu a few days ago. “Since India is a big market for Nepali cinema, we collaborated with Anurag to see how we can expand there.” He said that he met Anurag in 2016. Deepak said that he met and got to know Anurag there when ‘White Sun’ was screened in Singapore. He said that there was talk of working together at that time. “Now there is talk of working with Anurag again,” said Deepak. Deepak’s ‘Rajaganj’ is currently preparing for release in Nepal. ‘Rajagunj’ is coming to Nepal from Chaitra 1, after being screened at the world’s biggest film festivals.

This film will show the story of the search operation launched by the police to free the son of a member of the Legislative Assembly and the principal who were kidnapped while the Madhesh movement was raging. The film stars Asha Magarati, Dayahang Rai, Vijay Baral, Richa Sharma, Pashupati Rai, former Miss Nepal Nikita Chandak, Gaumaya Gurung, Pushpa Yadav, Aarti Mandal, Ghanashyam Mishra, Parmeshwar Kumar Jha, Neeraj Shrestha, among others. The film is produced by director Rauniyar and actress Magarati from Adi Films, Ram Babu Gurung and Maniram Pokharel from Basuri Films, actor Dayahang Rai, and Alan R. Milligan from Tannhauser Gate. The film will be jointly released in Nepal by Tfolk and Banquet Entertainment.
