KATHMANDU: Starting Friday, two Nepali films, Jaar and Unko Sweater, are set to be released at the Nepali box office. At the last moment, the Bollywood film Bhul Chuk Maaf was pulled from release, which will likely benefit the Nepali films.

Both new Nepali films are social dramas, and the common subject of both is relationships and society. If you are interested in the genre of social drama, then both of these two films could be worth watching.

Unko Sweeter, starring Bipin Karki and Miruna Magar, has received 190 screenings across the nation. Jaar, featuring Saugat Malla, Geetanjali Thapa, and Miruna Magar, on the other hand, has received 86 shows across the country. Since ten other films are already running in theaters, new films will have to fight for screen space. However, the number of shows allotted to both films is considered to be promising.

If the films receive positive word of mouth, they are expected to achieve strong occupancy. Advance ticket sales for both upcoming films are now open. By Thursday night, advance bookings are expected to gain momentum.

Currently, theaters are screening films such as Bollywood’s Raid 2, Hollywood’s Thunderbolts, Hit, Bhutan, Khel, Devi (Documentary), Anjila, Pitambar, Kesari Chapter 2, and Bhilko, among others.
