KATHMANDU: Nepal has recommended the film Anjila for the International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards (Oscars) to be held in 2026.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar) International Feature Film Selection Committee (Nepal) announced the decision in a press release on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by committee chairperson Bimal Paudel, two Nepali narrative films — Gunyu Cholo – The Dress and Anjila — were submitted for consideration this year.

After detailed evaluation, the committee selected Anjila based on its technical strengths, storytelling approach, emotional depth of characters, and artistic craftsmanship.
