KATHMANDU: Nepal’s oldest film school, Oscar International College, has opened submissions for the third edition of its annual short film competition.
Aimed at young filmmakers under the age of 20, the competition offers a cash prize of RS 100,000 for the first-place winner, RS 50,000 for the second-place winner, and RS 25,000 for third place.
Additionally, all selected filmmakers will receive consolation prizes, and those interested in enrolling at the college will be eligible for a 50% scholarship.
The submitted short films must be between 8 to 15 minutes in length. The deadline for submission is Friday, Bhadra 6 (August 22, 2025).
The best films will be screened, and winners announced with prize distribution on Bhadra 13 (August 29, 2025).
According to the college administration, the competition is organized annually to encourage young people to engage in filmmaking and to discover emerging talents.
