KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Legislative Management Committee has approved the draft Film Bill, 2024, with amendments during Monday’s meeting at Singha Durbar under the National Assembly.

Committee Chair Tulasha Kumari Dahal said the bill was updated to keep it relevant. “We have reviewed the 1949 law in detail to modernize it. Many amendments have been accepted. In this digital era, we have revised the bill accordingly,” she said.

The bill replaces the censor board with a certification committee and mandates appointing experts as its chair. The draft will be presented in Tuesday’s National Assembly session.
