KATHMANDU: Disney’s Zootopia 2 has set a new Hollywood record, becoming the highest-grossing animated film ever with a global haul of USD 1.7 billion, surpassing Inside Out 2’s collection of USD 1.69 billion.

Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, the film now ranks as the ninth highest-grossing movie of all time worldwide.

Released during Thanksgiving, it posted the biggest global animated opening, earning USD 559.5 million in five days.

While China’s Ne Zha 2 remains the top animated film globally, Disney has yet to announce Zootopia 3.
