KATHMANDU: The capital has turned quiet as most people have left for their home districts to celebrate Dashain.
Only a few vehicles are seen on the roads, with private ones outnumbering public transport.
Every year during Dashain, Kathmandu becomes deserted as those who had migrated from various districts return to their hometowns for the festival.
Schools and colleges had already closed from Ghatasthapana, while government and private offices granted holidays from Phulpati.
On Sunday alone, the day of Phulpati, more than 100,000 people left the Valley, according to the Valley Traffic Police Office.
With the mass exodus, most shops and businesses are shut.
Major commercial centers of Kathmandu also appear deserted.
