KATHMANDU: On the occasion of Maghe Sankranti, which marks the beginning of the Nepali month of Magh, the Tharu community celebrated the Maghi festival at Tundikhel in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Adorned in traditional attire, participants showcased performances reflecting their indigenous culture, along with exhibitions of traditional costumes and traditional and customary foods. Alongside the Tharu community, members of the Magar community also joined the celebrations at Tundikhel, marking Maghi in their distinctive traditional dress.
With the objective of promoting the Tharu community’s indigenous culture, the participants arrived at Tundikhel in traditional costumes, accompanied by cultural processions, and celebrated the festival with great enthusiasm.
