Health Ministry to mobilize teams to treat problems ailing health sector

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has decided to mobilize teams in all the seven provinces to deal with problems seen in the health sector lately.

Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr Prakash Budhathoki, said a decision has been taken to deploy a team along with specialist for resolving the problems seen in the health sector.

According to him, the teams will be deployed to study the issues faced by nursing staff regarding salary and benefits, the classification of those injured during the Gen-Z demonstrations, the status of the Gen-Z clinic operations, among other issues, and to identify options for solutions.

The teams will hold discussions and facilitate coordination with the relevant bodies at the federal, provincial and local levels to resolve the problems.

The Ministry has asked its subordinate departments, centres, and directorates to present an action plan for related programmes to improve the sector-wise healthcare according to public aspiration in the context of the changes, Ministry spokesperson Dr Budhathoki stated.

He said that the Ministry’s subordinate bodies were instructed to send a list of short-term/immediate (to be completed within 30 days), medium-term (to be started within 60 days), and long-term (having impact in the distant future) plans.

Spokesperson Budhathoki added that instructions have been given to make the public procurement process as well as the medicine registration process, done from the departments under the ministry and federal hospitals, transparent and citizen-friendly.

He said instructions had also been given to immediately address complaints regarding the work performance of the bodies under the ministry.
