KATHMANDU: Dengue infections in Nepal have reached close to 5,000 cases, according to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division.
Dr. Gokarna Prasad Dahal, head of the Vector-Borne Disease Unit, said that 4,814 people have tested positive for dengue so far.
Except for Dolpa, Humla, and Manang districts, infections have been reported almost nationwide.
Two deaths linked to dengue have already been confirmed.
Dr. Dahal noted that the risk of further spread will gradually decline once rainfall ceases and cooler weather begins.
According to official data, Koshi Province has recorded 714 cases, Madhesh Province 95 cases, Bagmati Province 1,064 cases, Gandaki Province 1,273 cases, Lumbini Province 843 cases, Karnali Province 270 cases, and Sudurpaschim Province 555 cases.
