KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed 5,378 dengue infections across 75 districts, with the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) also reporting two deaths.

Only Dolpa and Manang remain dengue-free.

Physicians warn the infection risk remains high until mid-November.

The disease, transmitted by the Aedes species mosquito that breeds in clean, stagnant water, presents with severe symptoms.

The infectious disease specialist’s doctor’s notes on key symptoms include extreme body aches, loss of appetite, and diarrhea, in addition to high fever, joint and muscle pain, eye pain, headache, skin rashes, nausea, or vomiting.
