KATHMANDU: More than 7,000 people have been diagnosed with dengue fever across 75 districts of Nepal, according to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD).

Data from the EDCD show that 7,075 dengue infections have been confirmed so far, with six reported deaths.
Only two districts — Dolpa and Manang — have reported no dengue cases to date.

Bagmati Province has the highest number of infections with 1,763 cases, followed by Gandaki (1,775), Lumbini (1,169), Koshi (993), Sudurpaschim (788), Karnali (500), and Madhesh (147).

According to doctors, dengue is transmitted through the bite of Aedes mosquitoes, which breed in clean, stagnant water.

Severe body pain, loss of appetite, and diarrhea are common symptoms, along with high fever, muscle and joint pain, eye and head aches, red rashes, nausea, and vomiting.

Health experts warn that the risk of dengue transmission may persist until mid-November, urging the public to remain cautious.
