Robots handed over to Health Ministry

KATHMANDU: A Norwegian organization, Laerdal Global Health, has handed over 11 robots to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The robots named ‘men-kin’ (simulation model) have been handed over to Ministry Spokesperson and Chief of Emergency Health Service Centre, Dr Prakash Budhthoki.

The organization’s chief executive officer Karoline Myklebust Linde provided the technical gadget.

On the occasion, Health Minister Dr Sudha Gautam thanked the organization for providing such assistance helpful in Nepal’s health system. It would contribute to improve Nepal’s health service, she hoped.

The emergency service and medical equipments were damaged during the Gen Z movement in Nepal, she reminded, adding that such cooperation between Nepal and Norway in health sector should be continued.

Similarly, Norwegian Ambassador to Nepal, Dagny Mjøs, informed that Norway was ready to provide further emergency assistance to Nepal.

Nepal received total 11 robots for free of cost, Spokesperson Budhathoki said. The robots make human-like reactions during emergency, which can be helpful in learning the methods of treatment during emergency.

Nine of these artificial humans are of big size, while two have small physiques. The robots would be provided to all seven provinces and three training centres.
