KATHMANDU: Nepal has recorded 147 new dengue cases in the past week, raising the total confirmed infections this year to 2,238, according to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD).

The mosquito-borne disease has now spread to 73 districts. In the past 24 hours alone, five new infections were confirmed.

Bagmati Province reported the highest number of cases this week with 10, followed by Koshi (6), Gandaki (5), Lumbini (4), Madhesh (2), and Karnali (1), EDCD said.

Health authorities have expressed growing concern as the monsoon season accelerates mosquito breeding.

The public has been urged to stay alert, clear stagnant water from their surroundings, and seek prompt medical care if dengue symptoms appear.
