KATHMANDU: Israel has announced it has “resumed enforcing the ceasefire” following airstrikes across Gaza that killed at least 104 people, including 35 children, according to medical sources.

US President Donald Trump stated that Israel “hit back” after an Israeli soldier was “taken out,” but insisted that “nothing is going to jeopardize” the ceasefire, adding that Hamas “has to behave.”

The recent strikes came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered “powerful” attacks in response to an exchange of gunfire in Rafah, southern Gaza.

The Israeli military confirmed that an Israeli soldier was killed during the clashes.

Since October 2023, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has resulted in at least 68,527 deaths and 170,395 injuries.

The initial Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, left 1,139 people dead in Israel, with around 200 taken captives.
