GAZA: An Israeli strike on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis on Monday killed at least 20 people, including four journalists, Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed.

The dead include Al Jazeera cameraman Mohammed Salama, Reuters photojournalist Hussam al-Masri, journalist Mariam Abu Daqqa, and journalist Moaz Abu Taha.

Reuters said its live feed from the hospital, run by al-Masri, cut off at the moment of impact.

Witnesses described a “double-tap” strike, with a second missile hitting as rescuers arrived. Reuters photographer Hatem Khaled was wounded.

The Israeli military acknowledged a strike near the hospital but said it does not target journalists.

The attack adds to the unprecedented toll on the press: CPJ has documented 192 journalist deaths in Gaza since October 2023, the deadliest conflict for media on record.

Overall, Gaza’s death toll has surpassed 62,000, more than half women and children, according to local authorities.
