KYIV: Russia continued heavy overnight strikes across Ukraine shortly after President Volodymyr Zelensky reported a very constructive call with Donald Trump’s negotiating team following three days of talks in Florida.
Kremenchuk Mayor Vitaliy Maletsky has publicly reported the central industrial city was hit by a massive combined attack that damaged infrastructure and disrupted water, electricity, and heating, though no deaths were confirmed.
Russia also claimed it downed seventy-seven Ukrainian drones. The strikes came amid intensified efforts to build a US-backed peace framework.
Zelensky said on X (Twitter) that he will keep working with Washington on a deal that ensures Russia honors any agreement and prevents a new invasion.
France, the United Kingdom, and Germany expressed support for de-escalation ahead of planned talks in London.
Meanwhile, US and Ukrainian negotiators urged Moscow to show a serious commitment to long-term peace after separate discussions in the Kremlin produced no breakthrough.
