WASHINGTON DC: The Trump administration announced it is reviewing more than 55 million U.S. visa holders for violations that could lead to revocation or deportation, part of an expanded crackdown on foreigners in the country.
The State Department said all visa holders, including tourists, are subject to “continuous vetting,” covering law enforcement, immigration records, and social media activity.
Violations such as overstaying visas, criminal activity, public safety threats, or terrorist links could result in revocation.
Since Trump took office, the administration has already revoked thousands of visas, including over 6,000 student visas.
Separately, the U.S. will immediately stop issuing work visas for commercial truck drivers to improve road safety and protect American truckers’ livelihoods. The review process, officials say, includes stricter screening protocols, in-person interviews, and expanded data collection.
Experts note the move sends a broader message to U.S. employers about the risks of hiring foreign workers, with potential economic consequences beyond visa revocations.
