KATHMANDU: The interim government led by Sushila Karki has decided to provide Rs 1.5 million each to the families of those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z protests held on September 8 and 9.

A Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday resolved to declare the deceased as martyrs and to conduct their funerals with national honors.

Home and Law Minister Om Prakash Aryal said the government has increased the earlier relief amount from Rs 1 million to Rs 1.5 million per victim’s family.

He further informed that the government will facilitate the transportation of bodies to their respective districts and municipalities, with helicopters and other means to be provided as necessary.
