KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides triggered by continuous rains over the past few days have led to the disruptions of major roadways across the country.

As updated by Nepal Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Binod Ghimire, the Bhotkhola section of the Koshi Highway has been completely disrupted, while another stretch at Ekua in Makalu rural municipality also remains closed. Similarly, a landslide has led to the closure of the Siddhicharan Highway in Sirise, Katari municipality-8.

Floodwaters have cut off road access to the Miteri Bridge, which connects Rasuwa with China. Landslides have blocked the Araniko Highway at Kodari and Daklang in Bhotekoshi rural municipality, Sindhupalchok.

In Chitwan, a landslide at Tui Khola in Ichchhakamana rural municipality-5 has obstructed the Narayangadh–Muglin road. According to police, landslides that began Friday evening continued till this Saturday morning, hampering the efforts to clear off the depositions.

Efforts are currently underway to remove the debris in the affected areas, DIG Ghimire said. However, the Kaligandaki Corridor, Ratna Highway, East-West Highway, and Galchi-Trishuli Road are operational for one-way traffic.
