PM Karki Calls on New Voters to Register for Upcoming Elections

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called on new and eligible voters across Nepal to register their names and actively participate in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that the foundation of a democratic society lies in citizens’ awareness and responsible use of voting rights. In her message Prime Minister Karki said democracy is sustained by two essential tools — the conscience of citizens and the proper use of their voting identity cards.

President Paudel Warns Against Misuse of Presidential Intervention Powers

President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that democracy strengthens through dialogue, not conflict. During a meeting with the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chair and Vice-Chair of the National Assembly, and Speakers and Deputy Speakers of the Provincial Assemblies at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, he emphasized that listening to the people’s voice and embedding democratic conduct into daily life are essential to strengthening democracy and the parliamentary system.

Oli Calls Current Change “Shock-led” Regressive Move

CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli said his party will not support any regressive actions. Speaking at a UML program, Oli described post-Gen Z movement changes as “shock-led” retrogression and denied UML’s involvement. He criticized actions like undermining the constitution and dissolving the House of Representatives as anti-democratic, emphasizing that constitutional remedies should be sought from within. “We are not, and will not be, participants in retrogression,” Oli said.

Shekhar Koirala Calls for Fresh Leadership in NC Before HoR Elections

Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has stressed that the party’s 15th General Convention must be held by mid-January 2026 if it cannot be organized within December 2025. Speaking at an informal meeting with district presidents and former district presidents in Kathmandu on Friday, Koirala said the party should enter the next general elections under a new and dynamic leadership. He urged that the General Convention schedule be aligned carefully so that it does not conflict with the Election Commission’s electoral calendar.

Supreme Court to Fully Resume Operations from November 17

The Supreme Court of Nepal will resume full operations from November 17, 2025. Following the arson incident during the Gen Z protest on September 9, the court had been providing only partial services. In a full meeting held on Thursday, the Supreme Court decided to resume regular proceedings for all pending cases and services that were disrupted due to incidents of arson, stone-pelting, vandalism, and looting. “The cases that were spared from destruction and whose hearing dates were pending will be heard as scheduled from November 17, 2025,” the court notice stated.

CPN Leaders Visit Election Commission for Party Verification

Leaders of the Netra Bikram Chand Biplav’-CPN visited the Election Commission to complete verification for party registration today. The group had submitted an application to register a political party under the name “Communist Party of Nepal.” Following the Commission’s review of the registration application, the leaders visited today to complete the formal verification process. Biplav and other leaders arrived at the Commission in the afternoon. The election of the House of Representatives has been slated for March 5 next year.

RSP Acting President Aryal Admits Internal Weaknesses, Calls for Reform

Acting President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Dol Prasad Aryal, has acknowledged that problems within the party have grown because he has been unable to establish his own core values within the organization. Aryal made the remarks on Friday while addressing an extended central committee meeting of the party in Sauraha, Chitwan. He also admitted that the party has failed to curb tendencies that violate internal confidentiality and spark disputes over the political character of leaders. Speaking before presenting his political report, Aryal said that the inability to instill his own traditions and culture within the party must be corrected in the coming days.

Government Begins Printing Driving Licenses at Security Printing Center

The government has started printing driving licenses using its own printing machines. The Security Printing Center under the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT) began the printing process today. Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel inaugurated the printing at the center in Banepa, Kavre. He stated that despite legal complexities and various difficulties, essential arrangements were made to start the license printing.

Federal and Provincial Parliament Officials Decry Neglect by Interim Government

A joint meeting of officials from the Federal Parliament and the Provincial Assemblies was held on Friday at Singha Durbar. The meeting was convened at the call of Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, according to the Secretariat of National Assembly Chair Narayan Dahal. During the meeting, several officials from both federal and provincial parliaments expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that the current interim government had disregarded and undermined the legislative bodies. Mustang-Dolpa Road Remains Closed for 10 Days

The Mustang-Dolpa road has been impassable for the last 10 days due to accumulation of snow on the road following heavy snowfall. The Road Division Office in Mustang has expanded the Mustang–Dolpa road from Pakling in Mustang through Sangta village to Chhuksam in Dolpa. To assist Upper Dolpa residents in transporting goods to Jomsom in Mustang and traveling to Pokhara–Kathmandu, the Baglung Road Division Office has upgraded the Mustang–Dolpa road and created a new track as the shortest direct route from the Dolpa headquarters.

Maoist Centre Leaders Demand Status Quo on Party Identity

Sandeep Pun ‘Shaheed’, a cadre from the erstwhile Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre), has appealed to the Election Commission to retain the party’s name, flag, guiding principles and election symbol as they currently are. In a letter to the Election Commission, he noted that the Maoist Centre’s working committee has been transformed into the constitution–convening committee for the party’s general convention. He argued that until a new working committee is formed, the convening committee remains in a caretaker capacity and therefore does not have the authority to make decisions with long‑term effect.

Profit of Nepal’s Banking Sector Declines by 18.78%

The profit of Nepal’s banking sector has decreased. According to the first-quarter financial reports of fiscal year 2025/26 published by commercial banks, profits declined by 18.78 percent, totaling Rs 13.14 billion. In the same period last year, banks had earned Rs 16.18 billion in profit. The main reasons behind the decline are excess liquidity in the market and difficulty in loan repayments. Out of 20 commercial banks, 15 banks reported lower profits during this period.

Finance Minister Khanal Calls for Coordinated Action to Curb Revenue Leakage

Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal emphasized the need for coordination among relevant agencies to address weaknesses in revenue collection and prevent leakage. He made the remarks during a meeting of the Revenue Leakage Control Coordination Committee held on Friday at the Birgunj Customs Office. Minister Khanal requested all agencies to work together to control smuggling, stressing coordination between relevant authorities rather than merely intercepting goods on transit routes.

Nepal–India Border Crossings to Close for 72 Hours During Bihar Assembly Elections

The Nepal–India border points in several districts, including Sarlahi, Mahottari, and Rautahat, will remain closed for three days as India’s Bihar state holds the second phase of its Assembly elections. Authorities said the 72-hour border shutdown aims to ensure effective security management during the polling period. The border will be sealed from 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11. During this time, all forms of cross-border movement will be suspended except for emergencies.

NRB to Invest Rs 2.71 Billion Through Fixed Deposits

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is set to invest Rs 2.71 billion through fixed deposits in various banks. The central bank plans to deposit this amount from its different funds into commercial banks, development banks, and finance companies. According to NRB, the investment will be made in Class A commercial banks, Class B national-level development banks, and Class C national-level finance companies.

Panel Recommends Restructuring Nepal Airlines into Three Entities

The High-Level Study and Recommendation Committee formed to reform the civil aviation sector has proposed dividing Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) into three entities. The report, submitted under the chairmanship of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Minister Anil Kumar Sinha, recommends converting NAC into a public company under the Company Act, ensuring capital adequacy, and registering its shares through government-owned institutions and funds.

Surge in Foreign Investment Commitments in First Quarter

Foreign investment commitments in Nepal have shown significant growth in the first three months of the current fiscal year, according to data released by the Department of Industry.
Between mid-August to mid-October, investment approvals worth Rs 35.13 billion were granted across various sectors. In the same period, 311 industries were registered. The department stated that as of November 5, an additional 24 industries had been registered.

Two New Nepali Films ‘Jaari–2’ and ‘Man Binako Dhan’ Released

From today (Friday), two new Nepali films, ‘Jari–2’ and ‘Man Binako Dhan,’ have hit cinemas across Nepal. Jaari–2, directed by Upendra Subba, is a sequel to the successful film ‘Jari’ with approximately 200 shows nationwide. Its premiere in Kathmandu on Thursday received mixed reactions. The film explores the impact of a ten-year conflict on a single family. Man Binako Dhan, directed by Tanka Budhathoki, tells the life story of viral child singer Ashok Darji. Initially released with limited shows, the film is expected to expand through word-of-mouth publicity.

Film ‘Paran’ Enters Second Week, Box Office Picks Up

The Nepali film ‘Paran,’ released last Friday, has entered its second week of screening. After a slow start, positive audience response has boosted its performance nationwide. By Wednesday, the film had grossed Rs 11.4 million at the box office. Opening with 64 shows, low attendance initially reduced screenings. By Thursday, the film expanded to over 132 shows, with more than 40 shows fully booked in the morning, according to producers. Strong attendance continued on Friday.

Film ‘Abhimanyu: Chapter–1’ Scheduled for Mangsir 18 Release

The Nepali film ‘Abhimanyu: Chapter–1’ is set to release on December 4. After multiple postponements, the production team unveiled a new poster confirming the release date. Delays were caused by the Gen Z movement, floods and landslides, and a crowded release calendar. The poster highlights the main cast, including Kameshwar Chaurasiya, Sarita Giri, Kiran Shrestha, Laxmi Bardewa, Gaumaya Gurung, Prakash Dahal, and Shishir Wangdel, each featured in character posters.

Film ‘Kangal Crorepati’ Announced Under Cinema Pathshala Banner

The film ‘Kangal Crorepati’ will be produced under the Cinema Pathshala banner, officially announced at an event in the capital on Thursday. The film will be produced and directed by Raju Shrestha, marking his directorial debut. The story, screenplay, and dialogues are by Suman Gajmer, while Kaif Khan is the producer. Nepal Police Club Reaches Jhapa Women’s Gold Cup Final

The departmental team Nepal Police Club has reached the final of the Jhapa Women’s Gold Cup. Police secured their spot in the final by defeating Sankata Football Club 2–0 in the first semi-final, which concluded on Friday at the Dudhe Stadium in Shivasatakshi. The first half ended in a goalless draw. However, Police scored 2 goals in the second half. Police took the lead in the 70th minute.

Nepal Defeated in First Match of Hong Kong Sixes

Despite captain Sandeep Jora’s brilliant half-century, Nepal suffered a 19-run defeat against Afghanistan in the opening match of the Hong Kong International Sixes cricket tournament. In the game held on Friday at Mission Road Ground, Afghanistan, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, set a target of 113 runs, losing all their wickets.  In response, Nepal managed only 95 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Nepal’s opener Sandeep played aggressively, scoring 53 runs off 14 balls, including 1 four and 8 sixes, before retiring hurt.

Kathmandu Gurkhas Signs All-Rounder Sunny Patel for NPL Season 2

All-rounder Sunny Patel has been signed by Kathmandu Gurkhas for the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). With this signing, the franchise, owned by Kathmandu Sports Development Ventures Pvt. Ltd, has completed its quota of six foreign players. Kathmandu Gurkhas had earlier secured South African wicketkeeper-batsman Ricardo Vasconcelos, Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus, American batsman Milind Kumar, and England’s Ben Charlesworth and John Simpson for the upcoming NPL season.

Tinu Yohannan Appointed Head Coach of Lumbini Lions

Israel Strikes in Southern Lebanon Amid Ceasefire Tensions
