Process To Bring Back Body of Bipin Joshi Begins

The process to repatriate the body of Bipin Joshi, a Nepali student killed in a Hamas attack, has begun. According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai held a telephone conversation with Israel’s Foreign Ministry Director General, Eden Bar Tal, on Tuesday. During the talks, Tal confirmed that Joshi, who had been held by Hamas, had died and that his body had been identified. He also informed that the process of sending his body back to Nepal has already started.

Writ Petitions Filed in Supreme Court Against House Dissolution

The Supreme Court has received a growing number of writ petitions challenging both the dissolution of the House of Representatives and the formation of the interim government led by former Chief Justice Sushila Karki. According to court officials, six writ petitions have been filed so far, with more expected in the coming days. Some petitions question the process of forming the interim government, while others contest the legality of the House dissolution. One of the petitions was filed by Yubaraj Saphal of Sindhuli and others, who have argued that Karki’s appointment as prime minister was unconstitutional.

Speaker Ghimire Seeks Party Opinions on Dissolution of House of Representatives

Speaker of the House Devaraj Ghimire has formally requested political parties to share their views regarding the dissolution of the House of Representatives. Ghimire, who has held informal discussions with political leaders, legal experts, and analysts, is now seeking formal party positions on the matter. To facilitate this, he has invited the chief whips of the political parties that were represented in the dissolved House for a discussion. Speaker Ghimire has called these party chief secretaries for a meeting on Wednesday at 9 a.m.

Home Minister Says Legal Action Already Initiated Against Former PM Oli

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has confirmed that a formal complaint has been filed demanding action against the immediate past prime minister KP Sharma Oli over the protest shootings.  He made the remark while ending the hunger strike of Madan Budha from Achham, who had been fasting with a three-point demand, including representation of Sudurpaschim in the federal government.  Referring to Budha’s third demand seeking investigation and action against those responsible for ordering the shootings, Aryal said, “The complaint has already been filed.”

Deuba Calls Gen Z Uprising’s Second Day a Dark Chapter in Nepal’s History

Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has described September 9, the second day of the Gen Z uprising, as one of the darkest days in Nepal’s history. Addressing the Central Committee meeting at the party’s central office, Deuba stated that the peaceful protest on September 8 was infiltrated, and the demonstration turned violent, leading to the death of innocent young people. This marks the first public written statement from Deuba following the Gen Z uprising.

Petition Filed in Supreme Court Seeking Criminal Investigation into Gen Z Protest Crackdown

A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding a criminal investigation into those involved in the crackdown on last month’s Gen Z movement. Yuvraj Paudel from Sindhupalchok has requested the nullification of the president’s decision to appoint former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as Prime Minister, and has called for action against four individuals directly involved in suppressing the protest. The petition seeks that former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, the Inspector General of Police, and Kathmandu Chief District Officer be investigated under criminal law for their roles in the incident.

Purna Bahadur Khadka Appointed Acting President of Nepali Congress

Purna Bahadur Khadka has been appointed as the acting president of the Nepali Congress (NC). Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba assigned him the role during the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Tuesday. Addressing the meeting, Deuba cited health reasons for the delegation of responsibilities and officially informed the committee that Vice President Khadka would serve as the acting party president.

Province Chief Calls for Formation of New Government in Madhes

Madhes Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari has officially called on political parties in Madhesh Province to form a new government. She has set a deadline of 4 p.m. on Wednesday for parties to establish a majority government in line with Article 168, Clause 2 of the Constitution. Earlier today, Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh resigned from his position.

Election Commission Registers Janaswaraj Party

The Election Commission has officially registered the Janaswaraj Party, formed as a split from the Janamat Party. NEPSE Drops 19.43 Points, Settles at 2528

On Tuesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 19.43 points, closing at 2528. Although the market showed initial gains at the opening, it declined within the first half-hour of trading. Trading volume also dropped, with today’s turnover at Rs 3.36 billion, compared to Rs 4.97 billion recorded the previous day. Among listed companies, 33 saw their share prices rise, 214 declined, and 5 remained unchanged. Sector-wise, Trading shares increased the most by 1.48%, while Hydropower stocks fell the most by 1.71%.

Finance Minister Khanal Holds High-Level Meetings in Washington D.C.

Finance Minister Rameshore Khanal, attending the World Bank and IMF Annual Meetings in Washington D.C., is engaged in a series of high-level meetings. On Tuesday, he met separately with Anna Bjerde, Managing Director of the World Bank Group, and Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF. During his meeting with Bjerde, Minister Khanal said that the main responsibility of Nepal’s new government formed after the Gen Z protests is to conduct timely elections, while also emphasizing good governance and accountability.

Government Scraps Longstanding Cash Subsidy System for Exports

The government’s long-running cash subsidy scheme for export promotion has reached the phase of cancellation. The Department of Industry recently issued a notice stating that it will not accept new applications in FY 2025/26 that would create additional liabilities.
As the subsidy for exports made in one fiscal year is paid in the next, uncertainty remains over the payment for last year and the settlement of older arrears.

Filming of ‘Kabaddi 5’ Begins in Mustang

The shooting of the Nepali film ‘Kabaddi 5’ has officially begun. The production team started filming on Monday from Larjung village in Mustang. The shoot commenced with a script and camera worship ceremony at the famous religious site Muktinath Temple in Mustang. ‘Kabaddi 5’ marks the fifth sequel of the popular franchise. Although the team had promoted ‘Kabaddi 4’ as the final sequel, a new installment is now being produced.

Song ‘Phool Bani Phulthe’ Released from Film ‘Chirag’

The song ‘Phool Bani Phulthe’ from the upcoming movie ‘Chirag’, releasing on November 21, has been released to the public. Sung by Deepak Limbu and Asmita Adhikari, the lyrics and music are composed by Tyagmurti. The music video, fully created with VFX, features Tyagmurti and Sankala Gautam. Earlier, a poster showed Tyagmurti in a non-binary role, but in the song video, he is portrayed in a male role.

Nepal Suffers Another Defeat in AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers

Nepal’s losing streak in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers continued after a 1–0 defeat against hosts Vietnam in the second leg match held at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday night. Player Participation Soars for Nepal Kabaddi League Season 2
