KATHMANDU: A third group of Nepali peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) has returned home after completing their mission, the Nepal Army confirmed on Monday.
According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information, 67 personnel returned to Nepal, completing their rotation under the leadership of a Lieutenant Colonel.
Just days earlier, on June 13, a fourth contingent comprising 77 personnel had departed for Abyei under the command of a Major to replace the returning team.
Currently, 107 Nepali peacekeepers are deployed in the UNISFA mission. Nepal continues to be a key contributor to UN peacekeeping operations worldwide, with hundreds of troops stationed in various conflict-affected regions under the United Nations mandate.
