10 highways completely blocked due to continuous rainfall

KATHMANDU: Heavy and continuous rainfall has completely blocked ten major highways across the country, according to Nepal Police Headquarters.

In Ilam, vehicular movement along the Mechi Highway has been prohibited at night, effectively halting traffic entirely, said Ilam Police Chief SP Ek Narayan Koirala.

Similarly, the Koshi Highway at Barunkhola in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4 of Sankhuwasabha has been fully obstructed.

The Tamor Corridor Road in Panchthar has also been completely blocked due to incessant rainfall.

In Okhaldhunga, the Siddhicharan Highway at Mane Bhanjyang remains obstructed, police reported.

In Bagmati Province, the BP Highway in Kavre, the Pasang Lhamu Road and the road linking Nepal to China in Rasuwa, and the Mid-Hill Highway in Sindhuli have all been disrupted by landslides and flooding.

In Gandaki Province, the Jomsom–Korola Road in Mustang and the Beni–Darbang Road in Myagdi are fully blocked.

Meanwhile, the Sandhikharka–Gorusinge Road in Sandhikharka Municipality-6 of Arghakhanchi, which had been obstructed by landslides, has now been opened for one-way traffic, according to police.
