KAMCHANPUR: Altogether 29 disadvantaged families in Belauri municipality in Kanchanpur district received a safe shelter, thanks to the local government and the humanitarian organizations.
The Belauri municipality in support of Habitat for Humanity Nepal and Needs Nepal built those shelters and handed over to the beneficiaries in ward no 5, 6, 7 and 8 in a recently held programme.
The Municipality provided Rs 250,000 to each houses while Habitat for Humanity Nepal and Needs Nepal jointly chipped in Rs 250,000 to each houses, shared Bhawaraj Regmi, Executive Director of Needs Nepal.
Fourteen houses were built in ward no 5, 5 each in ward no 6, 7 and 9 through the Mayor Safe Shelter Construction User Committee, informed Regmi.
Those residing in disaster-prone zone or in weak infrastructures were provided with a safe residence.
Municipality Mayor Potilal Chaudhary pledged to give continuity to construction of safe shelter in future and reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to guarantee the rights to safe shelter of the impoverished and disadvantaged groups.
