75 people arrested from Pashupatinath premises on Mahashivaratri

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 75 people from the Pashupatinath temple premises today on the day of Mahashivaratri.

Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, Apil Raj Bohara, informed that 75 people have been arrested on charges of making noise and engaging in unwanted activities in the Pashupatinath area.

Police have stated that some of those arrested have been kept at the Metropolitan Police Range in Gaushala and District Police Range Bhadrakali.  The District Police Range, Kathmandu, has stated that 4,200 police personnel have been mobilized under the command of the Superintendent of Police in the Pashupatinath temple area today on the day of Mahashivaratri.

Thousands of devotees have thronged to visit Pashupatinath since this morning. For the convenience of devotees, the Development Fund has opened all four gates of Pashutinath from 2 am and arrangements have been made to allow devotees to visit in at least 10 minutes, Pashupati Area Development Fund spokesperson Rewatiraman Adhikari informed RSS.
