A man accused of theft and who had been absconding has been arrested from Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan-8 in Kailali district on Tuesday.

The arrested has been identified as Mahesh Rana, a local resident of the same sub-metropolis in the district. He allegedly stole Rs 140,600, laptop, and mobile from 35-year-old Shanti Chaudhary’s house, a resident of Basanta Tole in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan-1.

According to police, Rana had been on the run since the Kailali District Court convicted him of theft and fined him Rs 106,123 along with a sentence of 19 days imprisonment on May 29, 2019.

Meanwhile, the accused has been sent to Kailali-based prison where he will serve his sentence, informed District Police Office, Kailali.
