KATHMANDU: Another Nepali student studying at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India, has been found dead.

On Thursday evening, Prisa Sah, a first-year student from Nepal, was found dead in her hostel room. Prisa was a resident of Birgunj and had been staying in the International Hostel. The local police are now investigating the incident.

Earlier, on February 16 (Falgun 4), another 20-year-old Nepali student, Prakriti Lamsal, was also found dead in her hostel room at KIIT.

Prior to her death, she had submitted two formal complaints to the college administration reporting mental harassment and blackmail. However, the administration allegedly failed to take her complaints seriously, leading her to take her own life.

Following her death, Nepali students on campus staged a protest demanding justice for Prakriti. In response, the college administration cracked down on the demonstrators. Security guards, reportedly acting on administrative orders, brutally beat up Nepali students and asked them to vacate the hostel.

This escalation led to a tense situation on campus. The college administration was later compelled to issue an apology..
